24-Year-Old Jakoby Fowler Arrested and Charged With Murder After Girlfriend Found Fatally Shot at Mobile’s Hillcrest Estates
MOBILE, ALABAMA – A 24-year-old Mobile man has been arrested and charged with murder after police say he fatally shot his girlfriend inside an apartment at Hillcrest Estates on Airport Boulevard. Officers responded to the scene just before midnight Wednesday after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived at the complex, located at 4031 Airport Boulevard, they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound inside one of the apartments. During the course of the investigation, officers determined the victim’s boyfriend, Jakoby Fowler, was responsible for the shooting.
Suspect Remained on Scene, Arrested Without Incident
According to police, Fowler remained at the apartment after the shooting and was taken into custody without resistance. He was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail on a murder charge while detectives began processing evidence and interviewing witnesses connected to the case.
Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim, as family notification procedures were still underway at the time of reporting. Police have also not released details regarding a possible motive or the nature of the relationship between Fowler and the victim, and the Mobile Police Department has not confirmed circumstances surrounding the shooting beyond what has been officially released.

The Mobile Police Department described the investigation as active and ongoing, stating that additional information will be released only after detectives complete further investigative work and verify the facts surrounding the shooting. The case marks the 12th homicide recorded in Mobile in 2026.
