Freshmen, sophomores, seniors, parents, teachers and staff unite under the stars to welcome the freshman to the flock during the Freshmen Induction Ceremony on Wednesday night August 24.

The ceremony also united the Cheyenne Mountain community for the first time under the new mascot, the Red-Tail Hawks.

John Battersby, Social Studies teacher and speaker at the Induction Ceremony, said , “Some believe that red tailed hawks are guardians, protectors and messengers of warning and that they have the strength and courage of warriors.”

The freshmen embrace new friendships, new challenges and new memories as the school year begins. These freshmen were pinned by their older peers, the Cheyenne Mountain Seniors, to symbolize their induction into the kettle of hawks.
